Site for displaying large-ish pictures?

As someone who invested in a full frame camera it feels a bit of a waste to upload tiny pictures when the quality is above exceptional at sizes 1000 or 1200 by whatever.

Are there any free sites or relitively cheap pay sites (comparable with flickr pricing) that allow an attractive display of photos in an above 1000px dimension format? Somewhat in the manner of what the Boston Globe Big Picture blog does.

Well, I am dumb. Smugmug seems to do just that, though it is a bit overpriced. When you opt out of paying for another year, do your photographs disappear?
