Removing Centre Column Gitzo 2531

I would like to know how to remove the centre column on my Gitzo 2531. For macro and close ups of wild flowers I can't go low enough with the centre column attached. Thanks.

No, the whole column, so I can have just the base plate only attached.

No my friend, I had it removed last year and I re attached the centre column for in Winter I don't do close ups/macro.I just forget how I did it.

Unscrew the hook on the bottom, remove entire column from tripod, unscrew center column from head mount, place head seat on tripod and screw the hook straight to the head mount. That's how I did it anyway. Just make sure you tighten the hook to seat connection everytime before you use it so your camera and lens don't go crashing.
