Gossen DIGISKY Flash and Ambient Light Meter

I know that there are many photogs here are using Sekonic light meters here POTN.

Just wondering if any photogs ever use Gossen Digisky meter?

Would love to see your inputs: pros/cons vs Sekonic.

I think that there are many Elinchrom users here that are just waiting to see what others are saying and to see some user reviews.

I wonder what I can get for my Sekonic?

I read somewhere that the Digisky will only trigger the elinchroms and not adjust them as well. Is that correct? If so, lame!

That´s what I heard too. Lost interest in that thing ever since.

Yes it will not adjust the power, that is supposed to be "added" .

It looks like a nice meter, but the build is way to plastic for my use. I would break it in a day lol

The final version will probably be cool but nothing that makes me want one.

I'm more curious to see what Sekonic and LPA end up doing. From what I'm hearing, they're going to give DigiSky some competition.

When I first saw one of these I was very intrigued being an Elinchrom user it would be nice to have a meter that could trigger the lights. That said it is lacking some needed features, without the ability to adjust strobe power from the meter you still really need to carry a skyport with you which kind of defeats the purpose. Also at the price of the meter I really want it to have a proper spot meter. If they add these two features I would consider it a serious competitor. In the mean time I will continue building the little bracket I have been working on to mount a skyport to my existing meter.

I have a Minolta FlashMeter V from my film days that I just adapted to hold a skyport on the back. I'll post some photos when I make it a little more permanent but so far so good. I am using a Quantum plastic "cold" shoe on the back of the meter to hold the skyport and then using the Elinchrom sync cord to connect the two.

Funny I have the same Minolta meter, I am also using a cold shoe, what I did was run a flat piece of metal from the threaded port on the back to the bottom and mounted the skyport face up. I was just trying to keep the bulk down.

I should have one of these on Friday to test over the weekend. I'm hoping the ergonomics are good and that the now ability to adjust power on Skyport enabled heads and packs will be easy to do.

A sw update purportedly now adds remote skyport power adjustment in addition to the standard flash trigger function ...which will maybe make up for its supposed cheap build - let us know how it goes.

Yes, I'd be interested to hear about how the meter functions as far as controlling the elinchrom skyport lights. What would be ideal is if the gossen meter display can show the actual power setting of a channel (1-4) instead of just offering the abilty to adjust power up or down, which the radio transmitter can do already.

Is the power display available using the elinchrom remote computer software/transmitter. If not, I don't see it as being an option.
