One of these will be in a local photo contest.. I'm submitting 10 photos, so it won't be the only one - it's run by an "art" gallery - max size 11x14 - no frames/matting..

Which one?

thanks,

r

You will probably get more diverse opinions than you really want,... but...

To me, definitely number 2. Even though the first one has a very good cloud structure, the lower portion doesn't work very well. On the second one, the natural shape of the river is great. Personally, I would crop a bit off of the right side, tone down the suns reflection on the narrow part of the river a tad, lighten up the green fields out on the far end of the valley to draw your eye toward them, and then accentuate the light rays coming down out of the sun burst.

The result would lead the viewer through the picture, and keep him captive in the overall structure of the scene.

Or, you might prefer that I just say that I like #2.

I agree with Jon C, number 1 doesn't work well, maybe because of the composition, maybe because of the lower part that is a little too fuzzy...
The second picture looks better for me, I will only cut the portion of the sky above the cloud! :D

The "pinks" in the first pic are interesting but I prefer #2 ..
