I got a decent deal on the 85L so I was thinking of selling the 135L. Any reason I should keep it? Mainly portraits and shooting my kids. Maybe a wedding here or there, but I'm not pro.

two amazing lenses, so that is a reason to keep both. really what you can afford to tie up in lenses is the question. :D

85L - Excellent color rendition, good for super low-light shots outdoors or in.
135L - Also excellent colors, good for low-light outdoors with great lens compression to flatter your subjects.

85L might be a slow to focus if you want to use for shooting kids.

I bought a 135L when I bought my 5DMKII .. I was pleased with it, until I bought a 85L.
I am mainly shooting action/sport (as freelance for some websites and a sport magazine) or for my own use for shooting landscape/cities or family.
On a fullframe 85L is better in every aspect than 135L (sharpness, colours, bokeh, dof range, even AF is on par, and of course much faster in dark situations).
On a crop .. 85L is just faster and a thinner dof range. All other points are on par. Canon APSC are actually too weak to get 85L'best characteristics, I hope one day Canon will produce a competitor to the D7000 or K5.
I just bought a used 1DMKIII so I will probably use the 135L with it and use it for indoor action/sport as a complement of the 5DMKII+85L (I will have a indoor Dog Agility show soon)

So in short, to use an 85L on crop, you won't get any improvement from a 135L or a Sigma 85F1.4.

On a fullframe, You will probably never use a 135L beside a 85L unless you are in a indoor sport game where 135mm would potentially be better to reach the players..

Good point! I shot AI servo with 135L and it was pretty good wide open. May have to test again to see how fast 85 is.

Thanks all for response.

... Kids are really slow , as I am shooting often action/sport with 85L, I never noticed any difference between both lenses ....
And 85L's is really fast and accurate for any uses ....
