Yeah!

I think I can speak for everybody when I say we're all in love with her.
But don't you dare not shoot her again:

Haha Tiara is actually heading out of the country for a semester to study abroad and I think she leaves about a week or so before I get back to Minneapolis unfortunately :( but maybe in the spring!!

I understand that optically all the version of this lens are the same, however, is there any reason to buy the Rokinon version of this lens (Canon mount) when the Bower and Vivitar versions are commonly $50 cheaper? Customer service from the manufacturer? Resale value?

A 550D currently although I should hopefully be going FF within ~6 months with either the rumoured "entry level" FF or a 5DmkII. I think I'd struggle going MF only through the viewfinder with the 550D but I guess if I got used to it now I'd then find it easy with a FF + pentaprism. Thanks for the replies, I'll have a think about it and keep my lenses on MF for a few days to see how it goes.

Well, i bought the lense with an AF confirm chip put on and it's wonderfull to take shoot with. I wouldn't be able to focus so good without the "beep" and focus light. I don't like to use liveview when shooting (just use it for video). So i would suggest you buy a profesionally put AF confirm chip on. I just spent 30 dollars more than the original lense... not so much considering the amount of help it gives in the end, in my opinion.

I presume it invalidates the warranty though? Here in the UK Samyang provide a 3 year warranty so that's quite a lot to give up. I think I'll end up getting this lens anyway because there's nothing that comes close in image quality for less than 3x the price and if I feel it will help I can always buy the chip and aligning tool later.

Yes of course, no chance warranty will work after the chip put. Well i take care of my lenses and... ask yourself this question: Why would you send it to warranty ? A lense is pretty much solid. You can drop it off few times and it will still work 100% perfect. Dust problem in lenses are also very rare. My only advice is to let someone VERY skilled put the chip on. And yea, this lense gives the same result as the Canon L one, and you know what? it gives actually better result in medium aperture shots !

I would think that as with any large aperture manual focus lens without AF confirm, a focusing screen (in this case the EE-S) becomes much more important on a camera without live view. If the live view-equipped camera you were using this on was an APS-C Canon, the viewfinder of the 5D will offer an advantage in size, which may help a bit as well.
