also, the build quality is nowhere near canon's L glass. If you move the rubber focusing grip, the internal components will be exposed. This lens is absolutely not weather proof, so be careful.

of course, given a choice between one of these and the L, with the assumption that both have been submerged for 24h in water, i know which one i'd pick. ;)

I like Viktoria....

And Gilbert, loving all of those.
Postman should bring mine tomorrow or Monday. I'm still a bit worried at having to rely on liveview with 5D3. So far I find I hate shooting via the LCD, and the shot-lag is ginormous. Hopefully a few outings will get me used to it....I hope.

Don't worry about it, you won't have a problem focusing with the viewfinder. Just takes a bit pf practice.

I wouldn't choose either if they were submerged in water for 24 hours.

weather sealed does not mean water proof.

no, but one has lot of delicate electronic bits for aperture and focus...

... and the other doesn't, which is why i'd pick it!

just to let you know how to declick the rokinon lens, I made a thread/video on how to do so. (in summary use electrical tape after removing the ball bearing and steel spring so that the aperture ring retains tension.)

damn! all of these recent images makes me want to shoot with this lens again, since the 40mm and Tamron 28-75 (crazy) buy, the lens just sitting there on my Rollers x_X

I think for the price the build quality is quite something, mine has been taking a beat several times. The first beating is it hits a tree without me knowing, the second one just happened about 3 days ago, the lens tumbling around and makes me cold suddenly...luckily the lens is OK :D

I hear a lot questions about focusing with this lense without any AF, get the confirmation chip properly put, you will focus SO easily with it. On my 5D Mark II, confirmation beep and light works like a charm.

Ya, I'd hate having to use live view to focus with this thing. I tried it on my 5dc and the viewfinder focus is tough even with an ee-s screen. I find you just can't see the focus well enough to pinpoint accurately on eyes and whatnot with any sort of consistency.

It is too bad they don't make a focus confirmation model like they do with the nikon. Having that on the d800 makes this thing almost as usable as an autofocus lens. The accuracy is amazing!

I really like this shot!!! Reminds me of Resident Evil. A lot of mystery and uncertainty.

Is this your wife/girlfriend in these shots? She is stunning and you capture her very well!
