Does anyone else notice ridiculous amount of colour fringing? Or did I just get a bad copy? Is this lens not meant for outdoor use?

Most of my best shots are taken outside. May I ask what picture style/profile you are using as that may have something to do with it.

I mainly shoot portraits. It seems that when I'm using it to shoot a full body image, there is more colour fringing then shooting a headshot.

you are not alone. I just got this lens today. it suffers from some pretty bad CA wide open, gets less if stopped down to f/2.0, almost gone with further stopping down to f/2.8

wide open f/1.4, 100% crop

Oh my gosh, thank you! Finally, I haven't seen anyone else with the same problem until now. And I mainly shoot wide open, so that could be the culprit. I bought this mainly so I could shoot wide open at f/1.4. Now I'm debating whether I should keep it or not.

Does anyone else use this lens for full body shots?

Fringing doesn't look any worse than with the 35L or the 85L. Really just have to live with it. Nitpicking on a lens that costs 3 times less than the Canon is quite odd

The 35 Samyang has some distortion though which might impact the full body shots quite a bit.

35L or rok 35, keep which one..
I just got my brand new 35L.. kind of want to sell it as I find out I love the MF a lot..
and enjoy not to go into the somewhat common 'L' fever..

No, you're absolutely correct. I do really appreciate the quality that it gives me for a 450 dollar lens. I've gotten some nice results when I am able to focus right :o so I'm not disappointed with my purchase. The fringing can just get a tad bit annoying at times

99% of the time, just 5 seconds in photoshop killing the saturation on magenta will get rid of it so not a single client or another photographer will ever notice it. ;)

I'm a lazy photoshopper, i know :)

you can buy the normal version and declick it yourself. I made a how to video:

Yup, I also did the same last week. I prefer a smooth aperture ring b/c I do a lot of video (non-professional though) and sometimes the light changes a lot.

I bought this lens yesterday!
I think manual focusing isn't that hard, but it is hard ... So I'm stuck using "Live View" mode for now :D

But if I change my focusing screen to EG-S, is that really helpful?

And from today

When I installed the focusing screen at first, it didn't seem like there was any difference; but after using it for a couple of months and then switching back to the normal screen, I noticed a HUGE difference. It helps a lot.

Oh and I love this picture. The model is beautiful!
