True? No, I have used a split prism from katz eye before. They are okay, but still hard to nail precise focus with them. Plus the split prism is only in the center and I prefer the ee-s screen for the 5d as you can compose your shot then focus, rather than focus and recompose. Overall, I'd say don't waste your money on the katz eye.
