Some more. The second was against the sun with aperture closed to f/22.

The last for today. I think I am improving on this lens by using liveview, but I am awaiting the af confirm chip.

To me the Walimex (thats the name of my lens ;)) beats the Canon 35 f/2 IS USM because of the look of the pictures. Soon I will be able to tell you, how our lens will do against the Sigma 35 ART.

Taken with my Rokinon 35mm at f1.4 while my friend looks through my Rokinon 85mm.

I'm still torn between this lens and the 24mm... I know the 24mm isn't as well liked, but I could never get into using my 35/2 on FF, wondering if the extra stop would make the difference.

I picked up the 35 from Rokinon (same thing, I'm sure you know) and it performed well. I have since sold that and picked up a Sigma 35 ART. Both are great pieces of glass, and as you don't mind manual lenses I would definitely give it a go.

I know it's a great lens, that I have no doubt about. I'm just unsure of the FL, I have a 50mm on my camera most of the time, I felt like 35mm was too close yet didn't give me the same seperation/isolation of the subject, even though my 35mm was a stop faster I still preferred my 28/2.8 so I sold the 35mm. So now I'm torn whether to go for the 24mm Samyang, 28/1.8 Canon or 35mm Samyang...

I'll have to rent the 24mm to see if it's a good option, NCHANT has given me new hopes for it. I've shot with the Canon 28mm and thought it was pretty darn good despite the so-so opinions about it.

Well, if you're not a fan of 35 that just may be how it is. I've changed my style around the FL because I love it so much.

I hear a lot of people say that, I really tried to like it with my 35mm and it was OK... but far too often I found myself reaching back into the bag for my 50/1.4 or 28/2.8... the only reason I'm still thinking the 35mm would be a good option is because I know the Samyang is fantastic and because I know it'll compliment my Rok 85mm perfectly.

Hi guys, one question for you all. How do you use this lens on DSLR? yes the question is very silly but I'm confused. meaning do you just snap it on a dslr and the camera does the reading and all, of course the aperture and FL would not get communicated etc. but what else is required to be done? Since the aperture information is not getting communicated how does the camera decide what SS to use (AV mode with ISO fixed)?

Basically, just think of this lens without the autofocus and ability to change aperture in camera. It's a fully manual lens (manual focus, and manual aperture). In regards to metering, everything is done in camera. So even if you use AV mode, the camera will still meter according to your exposure setting.

I think you might mean BECAUSE you use AV mode, right? I mean, the general recommendation for using a manual lens like this is to use AV mode. I mean, if you use manual mode, for example, it won't work (unless you know ahead of time what to set everything at). If you want some kind of auto exposure to work, you have to let the camera set something for you (by definition). :)

So, Pupu, you focus it manually, use AV mode, set the aperture manually on the camera, set your ISO manually, and let the camera figure out the shutter speed (that's how AV mode works), as you said.

Another way, which I never use, is to use shutter priority, set your shutter speed, set your aperture manually (you have to on this lens), but then use auto ISO. This makes the camera figure out an ISO that will give you a proper exposure with the shutter speed you have dictated and the aperture you have set.

Constantly surprised by this lens, such a bargain for the price.
