At least I was right when I voted. It was a brilliant photo.

On the number, while this is thread 1,043,455, I imagine the thread count shown on the front page, which is currently 1,000,306, is based on threads that currently exist. The difference is that the larger number is the number of unique threads ever started at PotN, and the smaller number represents what remains after spammer, abusive, and otherwise inappropriate threads have been removed. It would probably also account for merged threads.
