Anyone know how to fix this problem? Most of my pictures look great in Lightroom but whenever I upload it on fb, it seems to have a lot of noises.

It's not noise; it's digital compression. It happens automatically. The only solution is to not upload your photos to facebook if it concerns you that much.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Is it still useful to size to 720 pixels on the longest side of an image before uploading to Facebook?

Is there a file size limit that, if not exceeded, will not be recompressed on Facebook's end?

We usually upload ours at 72dpi and 700 on the longest size. Seems to make a little bit of a difference. Remeber, downloaded high quality images gives users the ability to download those high res files.

Users can dl photos regardless of quality. Also dpi does not make a difference in digital format.

In Lightroom just make sure that you Export to an FB-size image (720 pixels max length). As was said, the ppi figure doesn't matter -- you set Export to dimensions in pixels and just enter 720 or smaller in the widest dimension. Your jpeg quality shouldn't be a big concern, you can play with it, say 50-60-70 but really for Web size images it matters little (unless you have people who are downloading them and trying to print them. Anyone who gets it in their head to try that from Facebook is in for well-deserved disappointment.

Also, made sure that Export is converting them to the sRGB color space so they don't look odd color-wise.

The last consideration that you can play with is Output Shapening -- play with the different levels in the Export dialog and see how they suit you!

Not for image quality on screen, but it will for file size.

Just saw this post and although the shots I post up to FB load up fine, the watermark and the watermark ONLY are blurry on most shots. The actual image is great. Thinking maybe a FB compression issue? just odd that it doe NOT effect the actual images, only the watermark; which I put on in Lightroom 3. Just curious if anybody has come across this too when posting watermarked shots to FB using the Lightroom 3 watermarking. And if so, if there's a way to modify the watermark so that it is not blurry on FB. On all other sites it's just fine.

Right, but wouldn't you rather them download a 700px wide image rather than a 1024px image. I know if my clients want a high-res image, they pay for it.

For the Web, ppi/dpi is meaningless. The Web only "knows" the dimension in pixels. And, unless you are dealing with a commercial lab/print shop, it is also meaningless -- you specify a print size and they handle the sizing unless you want to get into resampling an image. But, for the Web, there is only one ppi, and that is that of the monitor which a viewer is using, which is out of your control! And, that hasn't been anywhere near 72 ppi for decades -- these days it is closer to 100 ppi:)!

Correct. Which is why all my facebook pictures are uploaded at 640p :D
