I've worked with a lot with agents in the past and never had a problem before as they've all been real professionals... up until now. But I'm shooting in a new part of the world right now and am having to deal with 'fakes" who call themselves agents and it's really got me pissed off. I had 2 models booked for today. All deals were done, and everything was set and confirmed. The morning of the damn shoot, my secretary gets a call from the 1st ones "agent" who has now decided that he wants me to alter my contract to add specific wording to it just for this one model, saying that her images won't appear on any porn sites. This is not even a nude or erotic shoot mind you!!! Of course I'm not about to alter my contract for some moronic agent, so they backed out of the deal. Model #1 gone!
2nd girl calls my secretary herself, and say that she now wants $1500 to do the shoot instead of the $200 per hour we already agreed on because her "agent" (who wasn't even in the picture before... we didn't even know she had a damn agent) told her she was getting paid practically nothing for the shoot . That really had me pissed off cause I had already spent money on the location rental for this shoot. Now all of a sudden, the day of the shoot the girl thinks she's f-ing Gisele Bundchen .
It's to the point now that when a model tells me they want me to go through their agent, that I have to do a background check to make sure their real job is as an agent and that they actually have an agency with other models they represent, before I agree to even deal with them!!
Would love to hear some advice on dealing with these scenarios if anyone has any to offer.
