My setup doesn't really let me prime focus completely... and my rig isn't as stable as I'd like. It's what I can afford for now, though. :-\

If your focuser won't let you get proper focus you will always only take second rate shots. Good focus is a must. I made a low profile focuser to suit my 8in reflector so i could use it at prime focus.

The key is,
Good focus and mirror lock up. Being able to use prime focus is also good as it means there is no glass in the way.

The astro section of this forum is great.
Some of the cheap reflectors have great optics and are great for moon shots, i've been very happy with mine, you can find all my moon shots in the astro section.

Guess I need to check it out. It would be great to find an aftermarket focuser for my telescope. I've looked all over the internet to no avail.

I get excellent results shooting the moon with a 300mm (Leica 280/4 in this case). This shot is inadequate. The detail should be crisp.

calling the shot inadequate is a a bit harsh, yes it could be a bit crisper but considering the kit he's using i think he's done an alright job
