Have a new SD550 on the way and prefer the card reader for downloading. My Mac i book has both firewire (1) and USB (1) 1.1 Need to find a sandisk cardreader for a 1.1 rather than the USB 2 unless the 2 will work.

Don't know much about Macs but on windows TSB 2.0 will work on a 1.1 machine but at 1.1 speed. As I understand, Firewire is faster but the reader may be more expensive.

I have an imac and use this:

USB 1 is slowwwwww, if your ibook doesn't have USB 2, you really should use the Firewire card reader.

USB 1 = 12Mbps
USB 2 = 480Mbps
Firewire = 400Mbps
