I am about to buy a G3. A friend loaned me his G2 for the day. He gave me some simple insructions on how to operate the G2. I went to the zoo to play with his camera.I soon realized that the camera would focus on the wire screen enclosure and not the Orangutan I was trying to photo. I had called my buddy and he had never had to use this option and was not sure if you could. He had lost his manual. Is it a problem manual focusing with a G3? I am new to digital and only have used manual SLR Nikons(F2as).

Works great on the G3 as far as I can tell. Watch your fstop so you are aware of your DOF, of course.

IMHO, the command dial on the G3 makes manual focusing a lot easier.

Hi Timo,

U can easily move the square arround the screen so u can focus on something else that's not in the middle. I believe u can press on button 'set..' and then use the arrow keys.

Check out this link http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/PSG3/PSG3_spec-e.html (external link), click on the links (left) to see about focus and the rest of the camera. Hope it usefull.
