I have no experience with either of the Sigma 500 zooms, but I just love my 100-400L.

I also love my 100-400L.

I was debating the100-400L and a few Sigma offerings when I started looking, but it optically outclasses it's rivals (the Sigma 120-400 is a very new design, but the 100-400L outclasses it - for those worried about "old" design lenses.)

Push pull - it is awesome! I was worried about it at the start, but the people who knock it probably have not used it. For motorsport, I find it a must have!

On another note - both the Sigma 50-500 and 150-500 take better shots than the 100-400L at 500mm.

Going back to the poor souls comparing lenses to cars - the McLaren F1 is over 13 years old in it's design, I suspect there are not many current model cars that can out class it even today.

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I've decided to hold off til I have the money for the 100-400L.
