Star Trails: First Attempt

Decided to give this a try, i love looking at the stars and watching the sun rise and set, so after reading up and looking at some examples i wanted to give this a try.

my first attempt, C&C welcome

Canon 40D Gripped
Canon 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens
Series of 115 Photos Merged together
All shot at f/3.5, 30" Exposure, ISO 100, shot for an hour

Nice composite, what time of evening/dusk did you capture this?
You need dark skies to get more star trails, not sure your location situation.

My suggestion:
Try ISO400 or ISO800 and see if you can capture more stars for more trails.
When I shoot star trails I take test exposure using ISO800 at 20, 25, 30 sec and see in the test image if the background is too exposed and adjust in accord.

took them at 950pm central time....yeah i would have to agree about a darker sky...didnt help that it was almost a full moon.

Ill take your advice into consideration and give it a try, your shots look amazing...great work
