One of my favorite subjects to photograph is surfing, or anything involving people and waves. I have always wanted to shoot at the wedge. On Thursday, I just happened to check the Wedge's surf forecast because I heard that a South swell was producing some large waves in Souther California. The Wedge produces MONSTER waves when there is a large south or south south west swell. So I decided to pack my bags and take a quick road trip.
With this wave the object is not to defeat the wave or have your best ride, the object is to simply stay alive. Today was a medium day, I can only imagine what a big day would be like. To my disappointment there were only body surfers out and most of them were reluctant to ride the wave, which is understandable. There were roughly 75-100 people watching along with news crews and lifeguards.
I really cant wait to go back when it is big and there are all sorts of people tempting fate.
