This was a dark show. Not just figuratively, though that was undoubtedly true. But dark dark. Many of these are at ISO 6400...

Nice set. I sympathise with the dark lighting - get a lot of that on the Fringe ...

I'm not sure the focus choice in #1 works as well as if you were focussed on the foreground character. I often do this to try and mix it up but I'm not sure how well it always works ... the more selective focus of #7 works nicely though.

#6 is a great image, nicely captured with the back projection. I like #8 a lot too. #4 you've used the stage light nicely.

#2, 3 and 5 don't work so well for me - #5 I do and don't like the bars running across, although it sort of works concealing the provocative figure, I'm still not sure I like it as an image.

Hope you don't mind the CC, generally very well done!

Yours, (inside parentheses),

Owain.

Hi Owain,

Thank you for your comments. I agree with much of what you say. Sadly #5 was the way it was, and I had no opportunity to get a better angle - that's just the way theatre photography goes, of course!

My own favourites were 2 and 7... but it was a definite struggle in the available light. I keep telling directors that they should be shining a lot more light on the stage, but they never listen :-)

regards,
/alan

Hellooo!

Sorry I've taken a while replying - I was away camping ...

Indeed, often there isn't anything you can do about stage position ... and available light is a constant struggle, which is also down to your friend and mine the lighting designer and, at least the ones I know, they very much like making things selectively and sparingly light ... difficult to work with but they do generally make the shows look great, my favourite shows are often the hardest, and darkest, to shoot ...

All the best ...

Owain.
