How much does it cost to have a Canon lens calibrated? I went to Canon website, and unless I missed it, the only thing they have is the repairs estimate. The form just asks for the product name, serial number, and the date of purchase. For my 2 year old EF-S 18-200 the cost is $120. The site did not even ask what kind of problems I have, so I suspect they just have a standard cost.

If Canon decides that there is no need for calibration, would they still charge the $120?

Is it a common experience?

It would of been $158 for my 24-70 if it wasn't under warranty. I had it serviced a few weeks a ago

What's the turnaround time on calibration? I'm thinking to get my 35L calibrated (seems to misfocus quite a bit, especially at anything less than f/4).

100% Canon!!!

I'd like to know how they calibrate the lens. Would it be similar to MA on a 7D?

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Canon Irvine is running a 85 follar flatrate charge with a 5-7 business day turn around.

Gotta hop on that before it goes up :) See if my 70-200 2.8L can get any better, feels like it could.

What exactly is a "flat rate" in this instance? Does that mean it is the minumum they will charge + more if needed, or does that mean it will cost only $85 no matter what?

I am not sure about all lenses but I beleive that some lenses have a set screw that can be adjusted to tune a lens.
