Here are two views of my office.

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/skysaddle/image/127589930.jpg
This photo was taken on a clear, still night while flying across southern Wisconsin. I used a long shutter speed which blurred the city lights. Across the horizon you can see Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine, Chicago, and Gary

This one was shot as we were dodging some stormy weather over north Texas. That's Saint Elmo's fire on the windshield. It looks dramatic, but it's harmless.

I've taken my camera on every trip I've flown for the past eight years. If you like this sort of thing check out my Flying the Line (external link) series at my blog. Whenever I get a good photo or flying story i post it there.

Really like the above, and as with everyone elses comments - great job on the blog!

My fave was the lenticular cloud formation - nicely captured.

Haha... We have autopilot.

Actually our black uniform pants do a good job hiding in the shadows.

Thanks everyone. Glad you like the blog too. I put a ton of work into it.

Explain to me why the St Elmo's fire isn't blurred?

The panel and the windscreen are moving up and down at the same rate and the static discharge is on the windscreen so... ??

I would say "duration" just like a flash on a long exposure shot. The flash freezes the action while the long duration picks up the background (somewhat)

I suppose that's a possibility. I thought SEF "crawls" over surfaces like the discharge from a Van DeGraff generator. It clings and snakes its way over surfaces and doesn't "flash" like lightning.

I dunno... Color me curious. ;)
