Last night I realized that one of my three Genesis 200s I could no longer adjust the vertical angle of the head. The locking mechanism stripped the plastic on the opposite side of the locking handle. Quite a bad piece of engineering for whoever came up with that idea.

Of my three Genesis 200s, two were purchased in mid-2010 and the third I received for Christmas 2010, just a few months after my first two. I noticed that on the new one they changed the design of that assembly so now there are two large flat washers (one on each side of the bolt) with a square opening for the bolt instead of the usual round openings.

Has anyone else had this problem? I was planning on a DIY repair by getting the required hardware from Home Depot but the problem is that I cannot remove the bolt because the opposite end is stripped (the housing that the hex bolt head sits it) and I have nothing to grab it with.

I am going to call Calumet on Monday and complain. Do you think they will replace it? I have a one year limited warranty which I hope covers that.

On the other "older" light, I can still remove the bolt and add the replacement hardware. Maybe Calumet can send me a kit that has the required hardware.

Any other suggestions in the mean time?

They told me to send it in for repair. Bummer is that I have to pay for shipping for someone's shoddy design. Would it be a good idea to remove the bulbs? How do I handle them? I forgot if my lights came with the bulbs installed.

That sounds about what I recall from when I got mine. Thanks.
