Well after Bill's shots last week with OCF I finally bit the bullet and bought some Pocket Wizards. This was my first time shooting sports with OCF and I have got to tell you, it sucks. I went back to on-camera for the second bout. I can see perhaps there is a learning curve here.

Perhaps there is some setup I need to do with the pocket wizards or something, but I had many problems. They didn't want to go into 2nd curtain, they would randomly WAYYYY over expose shots. Also I think they were using the high speed sync all night-regardless on shutter speed. As such I burned through batteries at 3 times my normal rate. Oh well enough ****. Bring on the Derby!

Really like these a lot, especially number 6 with the leaping jammer. You had the same problems I was having too. When they do work, the results are so sweet though.

I agree. I think in the long run I will get fewer keepers, but the ones I do get will be better. I really need to figure out the 2nd curtain problems though. I always leave my flash in 2nd curtain, so that is a big one for me.
