Is Eclipse E2 safe for 1DMKII sensor? Pec-Pads?

So I've got a bottle of Eclipse E2 from when they recommended it for use with the 40D, now they say the regular Eclipse is safe for everything... But what about E2?

Also I seem to remember people using Pec-Pad's wrapped around their old swabs (or making their own out of plastic knives, or spatulas) and wonder if that's an alright idea? Photographic Solutions says Pec-Pads aren't meant for that, but it sure would be nice to use them and save some cash on buying the disposable wipes all the time.

Thanks!

E2 is a slightly less concentrated solution so should be fine.

Pec-pads are fine if used with caution & care. I've scratched a 20D with one, but suspect the problem was grit on the sensor and technique used rather than the tools. Either way I haven't had any problems in the 4 years since (and occasionally do the 1D2 & 1D3 this way)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Actually, they're totally different compositions. Eclipse is almost 100% pure methanol. E2 is mainly Ethanol with some Methanol and Propan-2-ol. Eclipse is better at cleaning sensors and will not cause any damage if used properly. E2 isn't quite as good, but will still work.

Thanks for the info! I'd order some Eclipse, but it doesn't seem that anybody will ship it to me... lol
