Hi,
I am in the market for a photo vest... Been looking at Domke and Tamarac...
Any others I should consider?
Just need to carry one DSLR, 2 lenses and small accessories...

Thanks

If it were me, I would go with a messenger bag. It's just so much more versatile.

For that little gear, a messenger bag would be the way to go, something like a domke or crumpler million dollar home.

I have recently been looking for a vest to hold a bunch of my gear, and my iPad, and am going to need something custom built to hold the iPad.
That said, I do tend to "run and gun" a bit, and comfort, mobility and fast access to my stuff is more important than how it looks as I will be wearing it for between an hour and 8 hours at a time, at things like concerts, motorsport and news events.
Turns out it's going to look more like a chest rig for a soldier than a typical "photo vest"
If I could use a messenger bag instead I would

You will soon get a long description and pics of an all black unit from some member whom I can't remember his name.

POTN Store (link at the top of the page) has a couple of good ones. Snir (member Blonde) has reviewed one - it's a sticky here IIRC.

After having some luck in customizing a fishing fanny-pack with padding, I thought I'd give a fishing vest a try.

IMG NOTICE: [NOT AN IMAGE URL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]

I got this one on sale for $40 at Beall's Dept. store. It's the Columbia "Cold-Creek" mesh vest. It's extremely light and cool - here in Florida in these 100-deg temps, you know it has to be cool for me to say this.

I was able to easily fit my camera body into one lower pocket, my 85mm into the other lower pocket (these pockets are big - it would hold a 200mm/2.8), and my 28mm into an upper pocket. There are 12 pockets in this vest, so there's still lots of room for other stuff.

Now the only thing I have to do is add a layer of internal padding to the outer wall of the key pockets to cushion against bumps. For my fanny-pack, I used a combo of sponge-rubber and foam-plastic. I think the sponge-rubber will work with this vest.

For the ladies - google the various reviews on this vest... the ladies like it.

I have the one that is sold in the POTN shop. It is very nice. I have used it for traveling and it is great for carrying all those extras that you need. I am not sure that there is a great deal of difference in the setup of any of the vests, just in the price.

Finished the vest padding using a combo of thin rubber & sponge rubber, Loaded it up and put it on - works great. Now I've got 3 ways to carry.
