It's way to automated for my likes but from what i've read really innovative.

I am a rangefinder kinda guy.

i think it looks cool and I love Leica's look and design, but if I were a working photographer I'd stick to what is already available for far less money. If money were not an object, I would like to have one of these. Thats pretty much how I feel about every modern Leica. Nice to have, but there's a snowball's chance in hell I would ever actually pay what they ask for their product considering the alternatives.

I agree with both of you.

For a personal camera, i like my M - work issues me SLRs and i use them when the M doesnt suit what im doing (sport etc)

I like what Leica are trying to do, build a "mirrorless" that can play in the same space as the 5D and 1D and i really hope they are succesful, we know the lenses are going to be superb, but i cant spend that much money on one.

From what i have read, here in Oz its going to be $11k body only
For that price i can get a new 5D3, 24-70 and 70-200, and probably have enough to get a flash too - i would have a hard time jusifying the Leica.

For those using an S it makes sense as a cheaper (than another S) backup, with a longer lens if needed (S stops at 180mm, SL has a 280mm)

I hope its succesful, but i have the feeling it is too expensive to be, as many see it competing with the much cheaper A7R2

Its the first new Leica i have been exited about since the M240 though.

$11k AUS is absurd, especially considering what else you could buy with that $$$ as you pointed out.

Am I allowed here if the only Leica thing I have is a Mug? Lol (which is available for trade by the way)

I also have a L mount adapter for my Sony, but even then I can only afford the soviet lenses.

Plus $6900 for the 24-90

You could get a 1DX and decent kit, or decent 645Z MF kit for that kind of money.

Alas the old IIIf is the only piece of Leica gear I have. And likely to stay that way although I have seen some amazing photos from the new V Lux.......that one is tempting!

I am a full time working photographer and I am planning on completely switching to Leica M. I have been waiting to see if they come out with an M-E with the cmosis sensor.I really don't want or need all the automation. The simplicity and lack of bells and whistles is why I love my MM so much. I am going to sell all my Canon gear so anyone interested in some well used Canon stuff like 200 2L, 85L, 35L 24L and a couple of 5DIIs I plan on selling them sometime in the future.

Wish I could do the same. however, I think if I sold all of my Canon stuff I probably wouldn't be able to afford a Leica M Momochrom or even an M9...
