Bought a Leica M2 last night! I've dreamed of owning one for years now, and worked a bunch of extra hours and sold off most of my camera collection and finally got one! It sounds stupid, but it was seriously a surreal moment buying one last night.

Love my M2, and I don’t really want any other camera, except for more M2’s.

Hopefully that's how it is for me because I certainly won't be able to afford another Leica anytime soon. Eventually I'd like to get a 35mm lens, but that's a ways away from now.

There are some really inexpensive alternatives out there. I picked up a 1950s Jupiter 8 50 f/2 single coated lens off ebay for $100. The glass is perfect and it is an amazing lens especially for the price. I know some really like Jupiters 35mm lens.

You could pick up a Zeiss Biogon 2.8 C new for less than a grand. That is a great little lens.

That's the one I was looking at. I have a Canon 50mm f1.4 LTM with an adapter for now so that'll hold me over. Voigtlander just came out with a 35mm f2 ASPH that looks pretty nice for $800 new that's also a contender for me.

I just love shooting with rangefinders. I am so glad I jumped over to Leica M. No regrets at all.

Of course, now that you’re an M2 owner, your natural enemies are M3 owners. Also, the Voigtlander 35mm 2.5 Color Skopar is relatively cheap but a solid performer, and compact!

It came in the mail today and it's absolutely gorgeous! I picked it up after the sunset so I haven't been able to take it out and actually shoot, but I've been playing around with it and it's really nice. The RF patch is insane on it! It's so bright and it looks like it was cut with a razor blade it's so straight.

Rangefinders are really great! I had the Canon P for awhile and really enjoyed it but the Leica is absolutely better.

I would love an M3! I primarily shoot 50mm but at some point I'd like to get a 35mm which is why I went with the M2. If only I could afford both!

Scott, you've achieved what has recently become my dream (saving up and buying an older M body), congratulations to you! I've no doubt you will but: enjoy it!

Thank you! I shot a roll through it earlier today and it's quite enjoyable to say the least. I think it was well worth the time and money I spend on getting it.

I had same experience after selling bunch and getting my first M.

The only problem after it... no any other cameras will replace M. For example, I sold old DS M3 because 50 is not my preferable focal length. Replaced it with new (unused) RF camera, but not Leica.
Recently I realized what is exactly wrong with it. Most M have VF window close to the camera edge. It allows to use VF very naturally. But this non Leica RF camera has VF not close enough to the edge.
And it makes big difference... M5 has same problem...
