Oh, Negative. You always rub it in :D

It probably blocks a fair amount of viewfinder with that hood on.

One day, i will own one of those ! (But it might take me a few more years to save for it)

If you need a fix, the Voigtländer 50mm f/1.1 Nokton isn't too bad; though I'd opt for the Noctilux f/1 if possible. The Voigtländer 35mm f/1.2 Nokton is another sweet lens; albeit 35mm.

LOL! Yeah, bad habit - sorry! :p

It does block a good bit of the finder, yes - I won't lie. Not quite 1/4 of it. After shooting a RF long enough you start to ignore the lens. Since you can move the camera, you can see what's behind it, and just frame using the other sides/corners.

I need to get a Leica first ! (planning on a M and Zeiss 50mm f2 Planar, or 50 f2.5 elmarit towards the end of this year, then 28 f2.8 and 90 f2 next year, the year after that will be a 50 summilux, or maybe a noctilux - if i can justify the extra cost, and am still doing a lot of pics at night where i may need the speed)

From what i have read, the CV Nokton shows quite a bit of focus shift from f2 through to f5.6ish - so wouldnt really suit me as a "one lens" solution - i may wind up with one just for the speed and minimal DOF of f1.1 though (but after buying a sigma 70-200 and 24-70 - i have learnt its better to save and spend the extra money and get the gear you really want, that way you dont have to buy it later after already spending a bunch of cash - although the price difference between nokton and noctilux would buy me a second body to use the nokton with)

I did say almost... :p

I love shooting this bad boy, and the closer to wide open - the better. A 3-stop ND filter is a must during the day!

Yes, a Leica is a prerequisite, hehe. Or at least something that'll take an M mount lens via adapter... The Planar is a sweeeeet lens. Super sharp, great Zeiss qualities. Add in the 28 and 90 like you're planning and you've got it made. I like the 28/50/90 spread myself. I went with a Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH, Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH and Elmarit-M 90mm f/2.8. Bonus - they're all a 46mm filter.

The 50 Nokton does shift a bit and IQ (bokeh) at f/1.1 is... Hit or miss. But it's a decent lens, and fast. It does pay to save a little longer and get what you really want though, yes... And if you want THE 50mm for Leica - get the Summilux. Noctilux is nice, but big and heavy.

You know, it's supposed to be... But it might be f/1.4ish. I'd think a thinner DoF if it were wide open, but... It's possible.

Went to New Orleans for the weekend. Walked around French Quarter and took pictures of the performers. Great City, I need to go there just to do street photography. So many fascinating people.

^ Very nice!

I shot a whole boatload with the Noctilux today, mostly all wide open (had an 8x ND glued on). Should have some to share tomorrow!

Hey, nice! Congrats neekon! Two very nice lenses too - small, light, sharp. Pick up some Heliopan 486 (UV/IR) filters - cheaper than the Leica ones. The M does make a great companion, especially with small lenses. The Color Skopars are my favorite for that sort of shooting.
