Well, my grandfather has been very sick (cancer), and in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. We finally got him out of there and I knew I may not have much more time, so I have been spending as much as I can with him. My Sister came up from Flordia so I thought it would be fun to get some shots of my Grandma and Grandpa along with some of my Sister and her husband while I had them all at my house.

My grandfather was very week but agreed to take a few photos. Anyway, I figured I would share some of them

C&C is fine and wanted

I went back and forth about fixing the light in the glasses on the second photo...That was as much as he could smile at the time :-)

Thank you :-)

Yes, 2 light for most and 3 on one or two, but very easy.

Here is #2 with no light in glasses.

No critique from me. Really nice shots of your grandfolks. Great job capturing their happiness together. Love the last one in the chair.

Thanks Dave! The last one I like so much because that is his sister in the BG. It was just one of those " hey, look here" moments, but with the 85L, that is all u need. The focus actually set to his glasses leaving his eyes soft, and I forgot to change the ISO from the night before, so it was set around 1600 I think, but I still liked the shot.

Oops, just saw you meant the last one I just posted above lol...I like it also, just wish he was feeling better so he could smile more :-)

For any people beginning that want to know my setup for these shots (I always did)...

I had a black cloth bg and 2 pieces of 4x8 plexiglass on top of it where it laid on the ground (which gives the reflection you see).

I had one AB 800 camera left about 4' from them and adjusted the light (using model light) until it was just hitting them. I had a large AB softbox on it. It was above head level pointed down.

Camera right and behind I had an AB 800 with a gridded AB stripbox. It was about head level and adjusted as needed for back light.

On some I added a 3rd AB 800 bare (just 7" cone), camera left and to the back.

I used the 85L for all these photos and was about 12' away (or so) and used a tripod. I think all of them were shot at around F 5.6 and SS around 125 or so.

Thanks for the setup tips! I like them all, nice balance of posed and natural looking shots.
