My 24L on 7D is spot-on after one trip to the Canon service center.

I think you need to seek help beyond the manager. When I had some serious problems with my prime, I wrote a nice letter to the top executives of Canon USA. Few days letter, I got a specialist assigned to my case and things worked out for me. Give it a try. You paid for the product and Canon has to make it work for you.

It's always interesting to read about RMA cases from other countries.

I guess we're lucky here in Finland since the shop selling the item is responsible for the warranty.

And even if the warranty is say 1 year, in a case of such a valuable item it would extend to probably be about 3 years or more. Actually the warranty is a "bonus" and behind it is the "responsibility over a faulty product", virhevastuu in Finnish.

So you can fight with the shop instead of Canon and they have to deal with all the transactions between the two companies.

You can also get a refund if you have to use your own car and phone while returning the product to the shop. These are randomly used though.

But basically it can't cost you anything to put your product through the RMA handling.

I'd go pretty much apes**t if I'd have to ship my stuff all over the country or even world to get the product serviced :D

So there's a reason why camera gear is more expensive in Europe. :)
