I'm trying to change the wideness of the beam right now by pressing zoom while on manual mode but it won't let me change it, anyone else have this problem?

You are pressing the left or right arrows after pressing the zoom button?

Press the <ZOOM/=> button.
Press the <@> button to change the flash coverage.

Also make sure the wide panel is pushed all the way back in. The zoom button does not work when that is out even a little bit.
