Here are three shots of my wife's grandparents. Ive been really unhappy with my photography lately and want some critique on these shots. I feel like the lighting is flat and uninteresting. I had a hairlight behind the subjects, camera left in a 16 in softbox but dont even notice it in the shots. They got bored pretty quick so I couldnt change much. Looking back, id want a slightly lower power on the fill camera left and maybe a stronger hair light. Grandma cant walk without a walker so this was the best backdrop I could come up with. Thanks everyone!

Minus chopping off his feet in the 3rd shot I think these are quite good. They might not "pop" but they're by no means bad shots. You're right though as the hair light is pretty much non existant. You live and learn!

Thanks nismo. I agree with the leg chopping. Sadly, I dont think there was any way around it. I couldnt get any further away and didnt want to shoot at a wider angle and get more distortion. I do wish his legs were in it.

I think these are actually pretty nice. You don't have any unpleasant shadows on their faces. The back ground is not very interesting, but you can't get Grandma to walk to a field, or a brick wall or a set of old doors.
I think your wife and her parents will cherish these pictures. I would if I had the opportunity to get a photo like this before my grandma passed away. Take the pictures when you get the chance.

Thanks Trythis. Its true what you said. A photograph might just turn into a cherished memory, even if its technically unexciting. Thanks for keeping what is really important in check for me.
