Ok macro gurus, I have one 580 EX II which I use with my 50-500 Sigma for Dragonflies and most butterflies. This is on a Tripod due to size. I just got my Sigma 180 today. I am using a 60D body. This setup is for smaller bugs and will hang at my side on Rapid sling style strap while I carry the Bigma. Do I really need another 580 or can I save $200 and get the 480?

Thanks
Lee

The 480 will have more than enough power for regular macro work with the 180mm. Nice thing is that with the long working distance you can get good light just with the flash in the hotshoe and a small softbox (something lumiquest softbox sized) without needing anything special.

Tools of the trade: Canon 400D, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS, Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70mm f2.4, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, Raynox DCR 250, loads of teleconverters and a flashy thingy too

Thank you, I didn't really want to spend $200 needlessly. I have already ordered the Softbox for the 580 and just need another one!! ; )
