Personally...neither. If I did it again I would stay far far away from these lenses on the 7D. If you don't want to read through all the discussion it appears most people who have trouble with the lens own 7D's.

The 24L is a killer lens on a crop. I bought the 24L mkI when the mkII first came out, I wish I would have ponied up the extra $'s for the mkII at the time. I love the lens, especially on a crop.

Probably a Nikon D7000+24mm F1.4+105mm Macro+17-50 Siggy+tokina 11-16 setup

After starting to seriously consider switching I've started to realize how nice the Canon lens offerings are. Nikon is definitely a bit short in some offerings...I suppose they have some cheaper high quality crop options but that's not exactly what I'm looking for.

As I said in that thread...they got this last chance to get/make this right...if not I've gone through way too much hassle and been accused of not knowing what I was doing too many times.

24L II is such a fantastic lens that I sold my 35L and have absolutely no regret. I tried 24L II on 1D Mark III and that field of view is even better. Of course if you put it on a 1.6x crop then FOV will be like a classic 35mm on FF. So, I'd say go for it and this lens is a gem on any format.

7D is actually gone (just a few days back; needs to update my gear list). And I did not put it on 7D as my wife was away with 24L.

To whom are you directing this question?

I assume he read my thread on my 24mm problems and that's what he was commenting on.

It is quite possible that I'm the only one (posting on POTN) that has the 7D/24Lii combo working well.

No oddities in focusing performance on certain targets or low light? After the third trip mine did ok usually...but it was still unacceptably high rate of missing...and when it missed...it was consistent no matter how many times you tried.

Well, how "low-light" is low-light for you?

I typically shoot @ f/1.4, 1/125s-1/200s, iso1600 environment. I've shot a good portion of silly static stuff at 1/50s, 1.4, iso3200-6400 as well and haven't noticed anything that made me wonder if the lens was malfunctioning.

I've done a few 1/5s, 1.4, iso6400 of my son sleeping in his crib but AF doesn't work in those conditions. I'd use Live View for those moments.
