I'll never make any money with this hobby ... Because I wont' shoot the two things that bring in the bucks ....

Weddings: - I've seen "Bridezillas" - need I say more ? - Besides, a beautiful picture is so subjective, I can expect to see myself in Court just because the 300 pound Bride didn't like the picture because she claims I made her look "a little Heavy".....

Children: - I dont like children. Stinkey, filthy little things.... My wife was watching a couple last week and I walked past them (rapidly) and one asked me if they could go out and play... I don't interact with them when I'm sober, but I did say ... 'No - it's raining".... He asked why it was raining.... I said "Because God is crying" ...... yup, he had to ask... "Why's God crying?" - - had to nip this in the bud fast cuz I really don't 'interact' with them.... I said, " I dont know, but it was probably because
of something that YOU did"... My wife asked me why this little kid was crying in our living room.....

What sounds more peaceful ..... Getting some smelly, crying, little 3 year old to sit still on a stool so I can take a picture of him bawling, or taking a picture of a stand of Quakies in the fall, just as the sun creates a golden glow over the foliage....?

No money - but happy.....

r

Rick

There's nothing more exciting than to be shot at............... and missed! ... Then, you're alive like you've never been before..

LOL! I have the same "problem". I hate people. My passion is nature/landscape photography....so I do what I enjoy and realize I'm not going to be rich. I'm okay with that. :)

Translation: I'm bitter and anti-social, so I don't know how to interact with fellow human beings let alone manage their expectations.

Wow, way to go *******... You're so cool for being a pretentious douchebag that generalizes, can't think for himself and ruins kids days.

I just found my Twin......LOL

The only thing worse then the kids are the kids parents.

If I had a dollar for every parent who told me his kid was gonna be the next big thing in racing, I'd wipe out the National Debt.

Kids just plain get on my nerves, with the crying whining and screaming, not to mention the snot noses and dirty faces.

I just think of Rodney Dangerfield as a child photographer in Easy Money, and realize why I would never photograph kids.

OP: The best line of the month: "...Stinkey, filthy little things." LOL. I've change a thousand diapers in my lifetime, and in that context, yea... gotta' agree! :)

(Reminds me of that great W.C. Fields line: "I like children. If they're properly cooked.")

"Man's got to know his limitations ...." <Clint>

For the most part, I like to be a 'disconnected' shooter as well. Shooting sports was really nice. I was right there, but completely separate from the action and interaction for the most parts. Also like to shoot things like events and parades, etc. I can be there, enjoy an event but not really have to deal with anyone if I choose not to.

Glad to hear you don't have to make a living shooting. Guess some are more suited to 3 year olds than the rest of us!

I didn't find the OP funny at all. Sounds like a grumpy old man. :) And I feel bad for the kid. And your wife. I guess to each his own...

e.g. I would have never been able to wake up at 2 am and drive for 5 hours to get the picture of the perfect sunrise in the mountains, or sit in the bushes for 3 weeks to take a photo of some rare eagle, etc etc....I love shooting people. And you don't make kids sit still in a chair while you're taking their photo, you RUN with them. You don't book couples that will cause you grief down the road, you send them to your fellow photogs. ;)
