Why do so many of you people project your likes and dislikes on other people and think that they should be like you - and that they're "bitter" or "grumpy" or wrong if they're not? Live and let live, people. Accept people the way they are and enjoy them. You'll be happier if you do.

well the OP is pretty negative. like the last person said, to each their own but the OP was also projecting his likes and dislikes, what I got out of it: bridezillas and kids are smelly toddlers, yah, those don't sound like generalizations at all

I would have never been able to wake up at 2 am and drive for 5 hours to get the picture of the perfect sunrise in the mountains

I don't have mountains here, but I have a great lake handy, and the few times I have got up early to shoot a sunrise was amazing. The last time I wished I had a gal pal of mine with me, just to watch her reaction.

Plus the fact I'd have a pretty face to shoot in morning light would not hurt one bit either.

I have two reasons why I will never be a financial success. Both are female. One is 11 and one is 38.

What sounds more peaceful ..... Getting some smelly, crying, little 3 year old to sit still on a stool so I can take a picture of him bawling, or taking a picture of a stand of Quakies in the fall, just as the sun creates a golden glow over the foliage....?

No money - but happy.....

Love your attitude, you would do quite well in photojournalism.

I didn't find the OP funny at all. Sounds like a grumpy old man. :) And I feel bad for the kid. And your wife. I guess to each his own...

e.g. I would have never been able to wake up at 2 am and drive for 5 hours to get the picture of the perfect sunrise in the mountains, or sit in the bushes for 3 weeks to take a photo of some rare eagle, etc etc....I love shooting people. And you don't make kids sit still in a chair while you're taking their photo, you RUN with them. You don't book couples that will cause you grief down the road, you send them to your fellow photogs. ;)

Some of us are not gifted with people skills. I'm one of them, especially after my stroke. I am one of those that would get up at oh-dark-thirty to drive 5 hours to capture the sunrise. I have been known to sit in a blind for hours hoping to capture a songbird.

yah, you're right, by the looks of my profile pic, I'm super uptight . I was just pointing out that Picture North Carolina was ripping on folks posting about their judging the OP, when in fact the OP is doing the same thing.

And IMO there is nothing wrong with admitting some of us aren't great with people. I am one of those that doesn't like having to deal with the vast majority of people out there.

Just glad to see you can still enjoy a hobby you enjoyed before your stroke.

What I think is cool is how the OP was able to get this kid to say almost the exact things from that old Jack Handy bit:

If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell
him is, "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute
thing to tell him is, "Probably because of something you did."
