The reason for wanting the 60D would be to upgrade my 50D to something a bit lighter (my health isn't so good any more and lighter is better) so I wouldn't be buying it just for better video, that's just a bonus since I shoot maybe 3 songs a month, the rest is about 99.9% still shooting. The Flip price is what got us, split between us and the rest of the band made it affordable for a separate video camera, but once it's too much more then that (unless it's a camera I will use for other things) it gets too expensive for what it's used for.

I really like the ease of use of the G11, that's why I'm thinking G12 or the 13 when it comes out. For me it's an easy camera to use when the DSLR is too heavy for me. It's bulky enough for me to hold (my disease makes gripping very hard on bad days) yet light enough for me to deal with.

I bought the G11 a month or so before the G12 came out. Wish I had known, I would have waited. I could have used the HD video. Now I'm wondering if the G13 is coming soon and if it'll have 1080HD or not. If so I'll wait for it, it'll also give me more time to save and maybe not have to sell my 50 prime.

Another thought I had that I figured I'd throw into the ring....camcorders pop up on deals.woot.com on a somewhat regular basis. Maybe check it out and see if you can score a decent bargain? Obviously anything you find be sure to do your homework on (I usually check amazon for reviews before I make any purchase I'm leery of).

Here's one that was on deals.woot - http://www.buy.com …/q/loc/111/220376587.html (external link)

Found a couple reviews for it on amazon @ http://www.amazon.com …?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 (external link) and they seem to be pretty positive. One review is even titled "When you need more than Flip." lol

It touts it as a lightweight camcorder...

Sadly, once again, you're misconstruing things. Your response didn't shed any light on anything. It was the other responses that basicaly said "Hey uh, don't listen to this guy since he's just generalizing things and saying zoom doesn't work at all. The fact of the matter is that it does work, it's just digital instead of optical. He probably read somewhere else that the zoom didn't work and made the sad mistake of assuming that statement to be true, instead of reading up on the subject itself before he just repeated something he read elsewhere not knowing it to be true."

At any rate...hopefully at least this thread will help you in future circumstances where you feel the need to regurgitate non-confirmed information and actually do a little research first, so you don't come off as uneducated on the situation....boy.

and you miss the point that it got the other responses going. For both of us it is moot since the OP was not all that interested in zoom anyway. Look forward to our next arguement. BTW, it is all in good fun for me. No offense intented :) To me, it still seems from the responses about half think it is no good and half think it is OK. You seem to fall in the half that think it is OK. That does not make you right ... or wrong. It is only your opinion. My attitude is, I bought the G12 for a camera, not video. I do not know if video works and do not care but there seems to be a difference of opinion on how well it works. The OP might want to be aware of this difference of opinion and research it IF it interersts the OP. I am not spending the time to research it. I will mention a possible fly in the ointment though, as I would appreciate any person mentioning possible flaws with a G13 were I expressing an interest in purchasing a G13. That does not mean I expect the person to research the possible flaw for me. You seem to take offense that I mention a possible flaw but do not research it. I mentioned it, several other people who ARE familiar with it made knowledgable comments, some said "thumbs up" some "thumbs down". Only you took offense. Why not simply state your experiences, good or bad, and stop ragging on me?
