On a more serious note (sorta) - I had a heart attack 6 years ago, and in the process of this wonderful event, I lost some connections in the noggin. That loss comes in the name of short term memory, I can go to my vehicle to get something out of it for instance, and in the process of walking to it, forget what I went there for. Doesn't happen all the time, but there it is. I think I'll just get more cards, one in the vehicle, one one the keychain, and one in my left nostril. ![]() well i dnt think theirs a "foolproof" on any matter if that's the case. Ben

Have been in a similar situation like that of the OP once and now I'm thinking of leaving one or two 16GB cards in the pouch attached to the camera strap loop on the left.

I always carry a backup camera, which will have a CF card and SD card in it. And I always keep 2-3 backup CF cards in my bag. This is my foolproof way to not be without a card. I do the same with batteries. Keep one in each camera and two backups in the bag. 1Ds Mk II, 1D Mk II, 50D, 40D, XT (for my son), 17-40L, 24-105L, Bigma 50-500 EX DG, Sigma 150 Macro EX DG, Tokina 12-24 AT-X, Nifty Fifty, Tamron 28-300 (for my son), 580ex II, 430ex II

The only time that "door" is closed is when there is a card in it. That method has been fool proof for me, as my camera only goes into my bag when there is a card in it, and if there is no card in it, it is easy to see that. Sue Cassidy

This card is not one that I use on a regular basis but is a spare that is always there if it is ever needed. I have one on each body.

Loaded up and drove off and left the card pouch laying on the desk by the computer. So, I just put a couple of extra 4gb cards I don't use any more in my camera bag in a separate pouch. I won't use them, but I know they are there.
