1. Why must the liveview be turned off in order to use a wireless flash setup? Is there a setting for this? I dont always want to use the viewfinder.

2. I did long exposure with the camera in manual. It was limited to 30 seconds? Any way to adjust this for longer exposure?

3. How do I set the camera for rear flash during long exposure?

Didnt see the answers to these within the manuals. Thanks...

2 - bulb mode. shutter will stay open as long as the shutter button is pressed

3 - the same as any exposure. it only works with speedlites and note with the built in flash. go to flash menu and turn on 2nd curtain sync

You must have a setting wrong somewhere. :-)

I used live view yesterday, with a wireless flash setup with one 580 EX II in the camera's hot shoe and two 580 EX II units as slaves.
This was even a bit more complex than the normal live view, since it was relayed via the WFT-E5B transmitter (EOS Utility mode), in a wireless ad-hoc network with a Toshiba netbook, from which I controlled the wireless flash setup, AF, exposure and some other stuff.

No problem.

Try turning off silent shooting in live view first. That's always the first thing you do if you have flash problems in live view.

Now you mention it, that is what I had to do.

Turn off silent shooting.

To reduce the sound, the silent shooting modes bypass that part of the mechanical movement of the shutter, which is used to sync the flash.

I"ll have to try this.. I could not get it to flash to save my life and took a shot without live view. Worked perfectly everytime. Def shall see if this solves that small detail.

Live View Silent Shooting does not work with non-Canon flashes. Read the bottom of this, responses by Chuck Westfall

It sort of doesn't work with Canon's flashes either, but Canon's flashes, and other flashes which present themselves to the camera as Canon's flashes, make the camera turn off silent shooting.
The issue some users have is that neither do they realize this prior to buying their camera, nor do they understand that Canon's simpler models doesn't allow you to turn this feature off manually. So studio strobes with live view and Canon's simpler EOS models doesn't work.
