Well i just order the Davis & sanford Voyager legs. http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Voyager_Tripod_with.html (external link)

I know they are cheap got them on amazon for 20 bucks !! So I say what the hell lets try them.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019M0B0C (external link)

But now which Head you recommend it will be used for landscape and macro. And it will support my 60D + sigma 10-20 and sigma 180..

Also for video I will get this head http://www.bhphotovideo.com …d_V12_V12_Fluid_Head.html (external link)

You thing that head will serve well also for macro ? or also I should get a ball head ?

If getting both heads is a must.. I'm ok with that.

Max budget for the ball head or a 3 way head is around $70.

So any recommendations ??

A ball head will be much better because its so much faster to set up the way you want.

If you're seriously into landscape and macro... you don't want a cheap tripod/legs, people keep saying that, but its true, especially for landscape, where you'll be using long exposures and where the slightest wobble or vibration will ruin the picture. The tripod and head are as important as the lens. Don't skimp.

If you buy a $70 head, you'll likely find that it sags, and you'll get annoyed at it, and end up buying another one, then you'll have spent more money than you would have if you'd bought a good head in the first place.

I recommend you at least try to double your budget and get a decent head, because a tripod and head can literally be a lifetime investment, unlike other parts of photography such as the body, which you'll upgrade in a few years time.

For $140, I'd highly recommend this one:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …nesit_MB4_1_Ballhead.html (external link)

HOWEVER, if you absolutely cannot increase your budget, and HAVE to get a $70 head, then you could take a look at the horusbennu stuff, they're cheap and get good reviews, and are rated to support quite heavy loads. The LX-2T is around $70.

Or if you want to stick with better known brands, you could try this one from cullmann (I like cullmann, a LOT, they have the best customer service I've ever come across, and their products are simply great, even though they are not so well known compared to others like manfrotto, gitzo, RSS etc...):

Or this manfrotto one:

I hope your only 5 feet tall because those legs fully extended including the center column is only 58 inches which is 2 inches shy of 5 feet. Also when you extend the center column out as far as it can go it gets really unstable and wobbly. I would have spent a little more and got something like a Manfrotto 055 and 498 ball head for $215.26 from B&H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com …5XDB_Tripod_Legs_Kit.html (external link)

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Yup i'm 5'6" my 4 years old tripod sony vctr640, i use it at around 50-53" inches.. but I want something that can go down to the ground. My first choice was the manfrotto 190XBPROB + 496RC2 but that will leave me out of the fluid head for video. I really want to start doing some video when i go out for macro and landscape.. thats why I choose the cheapo legs, just to wet my feets on this.

So you guys think the 496RC2 will fit the voyager tripod ?? I have only 20 minutes to place the order so i can get it tomorrow..

Thanks.

I would have gone with the Manfrotto setup and saved for the fluid head.

It should fit fine, and if not you can buy an adapter for it quite cheaply :)

One thing to be careful with is not to get too heavily invested in the RC2 system. It doesn't cut it for heavier setups, and you'll probably be wanting to upgrade to Arca-Swiss compatible stuff within the foreseeable future, so don't sink all your money into it.

Listen to Sirrith's pearls of trpiod and head wisdom, even if the heads that he suggested are not to your liking.
