As stated right now I am not wanting to upgrade my glass, I am happy with what I have I was just trying to decide whether or not the 18-135 would be a good idea to replace my 18-55 and 28-135. The glass will be upgraded in the future but right now I need to focus on upgrading the body

Stick with your current glass. The 18-135 won't give you anything you don't already have, and you probably have better performance with your combo because there are fewer trade offs to contend with. The 28-135 is usually considered better than the 18-135. Upgrade your body and see what that gives you.

You have a pretty good range covered. If you decide down the road you have a need which those two do not meet then you'll have a better idea what to get.

If ISO is your main concern, why not upgrade to a T2i even cheaper? The noise will be almost identical. Then use the saved money to get some really good glass instead of "Eh" glass.

ISO as stated earlier is not my only concern, I am wanting the 60D for size, better AF, and FPS for the things that I shoot. I looked into the t2i but I am ready after 2 1/2 years of being with a rebel to get out of the rebels and into the XXD but the 50D does not have the ISO performance of the updated sensor in the 60D. I will be upgrading the glass soon but for now I just want to upgrade the body to a 60D

Good, valid points and seems to be the consensus among everyone here so it looks like I am going to just be getting the body and no lens. Will be going to hold it and mess around with it tomorrow afternoon and purchase later this week. You guys think its worth the extra $50 to buy local?

I'm not sure how the return policy and CS is at your local store. But if I were you, I'd stick with B&H or Amazon (but make sure it's sold by Amazon and it's not fulfilled buy any 3rd party companies.) These places have the best CS. I bought a nifty fifty from Amazon, used it, and decided to return it after two weeks. I told them the lens didn't perform the way I wanted it to and they sent me a return shipping label; hassle free! (:

For some reason the body is 300 bucks more on amazon than B&H or Adorama but I think it is because it is being sold by a 3rd party. Looks like B&H it is to get it before this weekend!

Yea I'll stick with B&H. I live in Jersey so free UPS ground shipping only takes me one day to get here (:

What if you sold all your lenses except for the 50 and saved cash for the lenses you want. Rent your lenses for your paid gigs?

Right now the only lens I would want to save for is either a 70-200 f/4 or possibly the f/2.8 and right now I just don't have the cash flow that would allow me to make another big purchase anytime soon since I only would have about 600-700 from my lenses if I sold them...maybe if I had some more expensive lenses it would be an idea

Stick with the 28-135... It's a good lens... USM and EF, instead of the EF-S and non-USM 18-135. Sure, the 18-135 is more of a "one lens" solution.... But the whole point of a DSLR is the ability to change lenses to adapt for specific situations.

Once you get the 60D, consider selling your XS and 18-55 IS, then put that money toward a wider lens.

I'd suggest Tokina 12-24/4 which sells new for around $550 US and used for $400 (version 1) to $450 or $475 (version 2, if you can find one used). Great lens for the money. The Canon 10-22 is a little more flare resistant, but not quite as good build quality and a lot more expensive (around $850 US by the time you buy the separately sold lens hood).

These two lenses would give you a much wider range of focal lengths than you have now... Actually, on 60D you'd have an equivalent range of FL that's broader than the vast majority of film shooters ever owned in their lifetimes.

Later if you wanted an even longer lens you might look at Canon 100-400 IS, Sigma 120-400 OS, Sigma 150-500 OS. Or, if you win the lottery, look at the Sigma 120-300/2.8 OS.

I'd rather have the 18-135 vs the 18-55 and 28-135. All of those are about the same image quality, so why not just carry one lens?

You could look for a Sigma Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD as a replacement for the 18-55. Its around $700 new. But try your current lens on the 60D first You might decide to keep what you have. Lots of folks like their 18 - 55 IS quite a lot. Then you can sell your old body or save for a lens you just gotta have. Meanwhile you are shooting.

If i was in your shoes.. I would go for option #2 get the 60D + 18-135, sell the 18-55 +28-135 and with that money easy you will get $340 bucks you can get a tamron 17-50 F2.8 ($369) on Ebay from a Canada store. And you will be all set.. this combo is gona be a perfect match with your 70-300 VC..

BTW: I think you should check out the flickr group for the 18-135, http://www.flickriver.com/groups/efs18135is/pool/ (external link) IMO is an underated lens.. however if this lens it's so bad why the hell is selling for more or equal than a suposed better lens ? the 28-135 .. I don't understand this haha

GL..

Actually, I just realized that you are planning to shoot for pay and I think you need to step back... the above recommendations were when I thought you were shooting for fun, hobby, snapshots, etc.

You might keep the 28-135 as a relatively inexpensive backup lens....

But you need to be sure you have two cameras, two flashes and good quality lenses before undertakiing weddings, in particular.

At a very minimum, you need f2.8 standard and telephoto zooms. If not Canon 24-70 and 70-200, then look for Sigmas of similar specification.

Plan to replace the 50/1.8 with 50/1.4, too. The f1.8 lens isn't durable enough or accurate/fast enough focusing for pro use.

You will probably want a wide lens, too. Here I'd suggest Tokina 12-24/4 as the best overall value with very good performance and top build quality.

Don't show up at a wedding with kit lenses... That's sorta like hiring a limo to shuttle the B&G from church to reception, and the guy shows up driving a Ford Escort.... Or the minister (or whoever) showing up wearing jeans and an old Grateful Dead t-shirt.... Or the caterer showing up with a trunk full of fast food they got at the McDonalds drive thru!

Thank you to all those that have posted.

In response to what has been said:

-The XS is going to be my back up but will also be what my mom starts to learn digital on
-I am going to keep my 18-55 and 28-135 and just get the 60D body
-Eventually I will sell both and upgrade to either the 15-85 or possibly the 24-70 and start getting into the L's and eat all of my wallet.

About the weddings I have began doing, they are all very small and ones that people are trying to save a buck, I understand I don't have the normal wedding set up but I do not shoot a ton of weddings, mainly sports, some cars, and people so for now I am at a good start with lenses and happy with what I have and think the 60D will be just what I need to get going into even more professional steps.

Thank you for all of those that have helped!
