Great first try. To me the car looks too overdone, almost too good if you know what I mean. I think maybe if you brought out some more of the darker areas/shadows on the car, and not have everything so well exposed, that may help.

The body looks pretty good if it's a cream colored paint. If it's not, then it doesn't.

Nothing about this picture works, and anyone that tells you that there is something that does, is only trying to be kind...and hurting you in the end.

1. Photography is light, and you chose the wrong light.
2. Composition is king, and you have none to speak of.
3. Processing is the salt of a meal, not the meal, and you have handily overdone yours.

Start from the basics and work from there, then you can get into high-end processing like HDR (not that you'll want to once you're a decent photographer).

I have plenty of PM space, and would be happy to help.

The wires in the background ruin the composition, and the blue fringing in the shadows resulting from the tone mapping makes it look over processed. Try an HSB layer and pull down the blues and mask the application of that just for the shadows. I think that would help a lot.

I guess I'm the only one that likes it, I just don't like the blue cast in the shadow and windshield..

hdr on cars is like putting extra clothing on hot chicks. it's very rare that it adds.

it usually brings up hideous reflections in the paint and distractions from the background.

^ This. HDR wasn't the way to go with this image.
