So I had wondered about the China-located sellers on ebay (and I am VERY cautious with my ebay purchases), and finally decided to give them a try when I saw they had a "brand new" LP-E6 Canon battery for my 5D MkII. Hell, it was less than $20!

Long story short, I ordered one for $18.38, SHIPPING INCLUDED, and it showed up on my doorstep, from China (Shen Zhen Guangdong to be exact) in JUST 10 DAYS!.

http://stores.ebay.com …mit=Search&_sid=777464165 (external link)

Here is the link for their store's page, "Canon EOS Battery" searched if you'd like to take a look. Not everything is as cheap there, but batteries certainly are! When I got it, it was certainly new, the battery comes "out of the box", but the box is included - which looks to be, exactly, the original box that hasn't quite been completely assembled yet. Directions are in the box - in English. The battery has it's orange cap on it an it's in its bag and is indistinguishable from my other LP-E6. We'll see if performance is the same.

So if you're tired of paying $60+ for Canon batteries and don't want to chance it with the generics, this may be the route!

Check out the link and see if they have yours!

if you notice the ebay listing doesn't say it's canon lp-e6, it's lp-e6 for canon with the logo blurred, i.e., they know it's not the real canon.

but at < $20 it's still cheap for an aftermarket lp-e6.

Well, here's what I got... if you can tell me which of the two batteries is the one I just got in, and why, I'd be impressed. I've been looking at every square millimeter of it. Camera read's it's info, etc... either way, I'm ordering two more!

Well, actually, I see that there are "wear" marks on the original's contacts, the original is on the left. Should'a cloned those out, haha. .

Seriously, though, there is no difference between these... so I'm going to run up my shutter count a bit and see how it does... I'll update in case it turns out to be a good buy.

so I'm wrong that the ebay one is actually the one on the right?

"decoded" LP-E6 is nothing new. They register fine, show count, everything just like the original. the only problem with this set is it's *counterfeit*. this is another:

http://cgi.ebay.com …rgers&hash=item256431a908 (external link)

like all aftermarket generics the quality can be hit or miss, and that's why some people stick with brand name generics (and thus the sterlingtek religion here).

seriously don't kid yourself, you can't buy canon's originals that cheap. you don't even have canon's hologram on the box.

I have a couple of the China Clones that came the same way as yours, and they have been out lasting the Canon EOM battery that came with the camera. However the Sterlingtek lp-e6 replacements have been outlasting them all. And my batteries came in the box with a Hologram on it.

yup, they have definitely gotten better with the packaging and details since the first wave, that's why buying canon looking batteries on ebay is quite dangerous these days.

Sorry, the one on the right is the original that came with the camera and the one on the left is the one I just bought...

Concerning the hologram, I know it's on my Camera's boxes, but is it actually on everything? I have a box for my CA-PS400 charger for my 40D's batteries, and I know it's not a knockoff, and there is no hologram on it.

haha ok so I was right!

check the link I pasted again, I can tell from your pic the left one has "squared off corners on label".

for batteries i believe they do have holograms on every box.

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=612077

but like Evan Idler said counterfeits have holograms too (although extremely likely in lower quality).
