if i were to add one more lens to my collection, should i add 24, 50 or 135?

since I have the 35L should i get a 24L II or 50L? im asking because 35L is really close to the 24 and 50 if i were to buy add either of the 24 or 50, would any the lenses i own be neglected and stored on the shelf?

It would be either the 24 or the 135, but that's why either the 24-70 or 24-105 makes the most sense to me.

I struggled wit the same options and ended up with the 24-105. No regrets, since I shoot at the longer end most of the time...

Most people will recommend to pair the 35L with the 85L and 135L to complete the Holy Trinity of Primes. 85L is a sweeeeet lens!

is the holy trinity
24L 50L 85L? or is that for the crop sensor camera?

Legend has it that the name "Holy Trinity" refers to the particular lenses: 35L, 85L, and 135L. But you can make your Holy Trinity anything you wish, whatever focal lengths best suit you and your style.

Here are two shots, same camera (5DII), same position.
1) 24-105
2) TS-E24II

Only PPing was to set WB and camera calibration
No lens adjustment or vignetting fix

Both at F4
Both manual focus with Live View on the head

I didn't spend a lot of time being exact, but this should at least give people an idea of the output of the 24-105 at 24mm compared to what could be considered one of the optically best lenses Canon puts out. Then again, maybe I'm missing something.

Sorry,

5DII

Could be sharper, shot with timer at 1/8th should have used MLU.

Sharp enough for me; a little USM will make it match the prime even for pixel peepers :).

But the vignetting in the upper corners makes the ceiling almost black. Removing it takes time and noise kicks in.

And distortion is also visible, even if the scene you chose is not the best to show this issue. It's worse than some P&S, In my opinion unacceptable for the price. Distortion can be corrected but requires cropping, and then you are no more at 24 :)

Again, the 24-105 is a great lens on a crop. Just not my cup of tea on FF.

Good eye for picking up on the mislabeling of the samples.

I shoot the 24-105 less at the short end, but I've been in situations where it was damn handy.

Cheers!
