Family Dinner Last Night - Im a Beginner Be Easy on me but I welcome your Comments. This is my First Post been Trolling for a few weeks now... Im Shooting with a EOS 60D shot this with the Kit Lens 18-135 I didn't use external Flash because I didn't want to interrupt other people eating.
I been Shooting with a Sony a330 for about a Year and switched over to Canon about a Month ago Very glad i did :)

They're OK. You have to be aware where you're light is coming from and make sure your subjects are not blocking the light on the other as in #1. Have fun!

I think you mean "lurking" not "trolling".

These photos are a good example of when to use a spit of fill flash. In this situation I would have bounced flash over my left shoulder to fill in the shadows. Since you cannot manipulate the angles of the subjects at a dinner table I would have used fill flash. If you want to produce photos upto higher standards let there be light :) from your flash :)

Problem with natural light is that in order to land proper exposure to your subjects (in your particular case) you must over expose the background. This will defeat the purpose of showing the environment/venue you are in.

Do yourself a favour and spend couple hours reading "planet Neil". He's excellent in light control on camera or his latest craze of using off camera flash using pocket wizard AC3 and flex units.

The first photo especially needs some fill flash. I don't think it has to be bounce in this case, so you could use the 60D pop-up with flash exposure compensation set to about -1EV. If you do that, try shooting in Av mode.

Hey Thanks for all the Input ... Yea I wish i could of used a flash the owner asked us not too I had brought the hot shoe Canon Flash but when i got there they had told my grandmother no Flash because it will bother the other people eating. So Other then lighting What do you Guys think? you can be honest its then only way ill learn correctly
Ive mostly shot outside stuff & Landscapes So indoors an Family events are kinda new I wanna start to Shoot more People involved Photos. I think they can be a lot more fun an interesting.
