Is there any good examples like this where same shot was done using one on camera flash and then one off camera flash. Would be helpful to show people how much better results off camera flash can give.

Sometimes on camera flash looks better than off camera flash - it depends on the look one is going for!

Yes, but I'm looking for ecamples where off camera flash gives way superior results.

You have a loaded question. The problem is specifics. The flash masters who reside here could post images and fool you into thinking an off camera flash was superior to an on camera flash when actually the image was taken with the flash on the camera.

Are talking about on camera direct flash, on camera bounced flash or on camera with modifier flash vs. off camera flash? This is why this is a tough question to answer.

The real problem is that no one really goes out and shoots the same image with on-camera and off-camera flash unless they're specifically trying to make this comparison.

By most people's standards and in most applications, off-camera flash is preferable.

flash firing on camera vs flash firing on some other place. Doesn't matter if direct, bounced etc.

I've got a couple shots I did of a young lady with a ringlight (flat lighting) and then with an off camera softbox. I will post them tomorrow.

Look at photoflex lighting school. They will have shots with no flash, with on board flash, one off camera flash from side and so on as part of various introductory lessons to lighting.

I ALWAYS bounce my flash (except for a lot of outdoor fill shots) and use a Joe Demb Flash Diffuser Pro to modify the bounced flash...

I will use my Stroboflash Camera-Flip flash bracket when shooting events and or portraits and this provides excellent results...

However, when I am traveling, I will use the flash on camera, bouncing it with the Joe Demb Flash Diffuser pro modifying the light. I tend to use the Flash Diffuser pro in this configuration because it is effective when I shoot in the portrait configuration...

Bouncing the flash mounted on-camera with my Flash Diffuser Pro gives very nice lighting and is easier to carry and transport than using a Stroboframe Bracket...

Fist shot was flat lighting from a ring flash. Second with a 24 x32 inch softbox.

RPCrowe, I LOVE my DEMB diffuser, it was the first diffuser I ever purchased :]

es1, I agree w/ everyone else. It depends on the look you are going for. I'll try to see if I can get some examples and post them up :]

This is very true. With off camera flash, the placement of the flash is controlled exactly. Direct flash, besides bouncing you just don't have the same amount of control.

Here, first pic direct flash with ambient light balanced but bounced into a bounce card.. Second pic, off camera flash plus reflector in a studio situation. These images are like chalk and cheese,, and should never be compared side by side.
