i have a 5D MK 2 with 35L and Sigma 85 + 580EXII

ok so i need another lens, i dont know what yet but i just have an urge to buy another lens (haha sorry if this sounds retarded to many of you)

so i need some suggestions. i dont want 70-200 F2.8 II (too heavy) and i dont want the 24-70L (too heavy also)

I've been told that i should get the 135L but i just dont know if i'll use it when i have the Sigma 85.
I was thinking maybe to get the 24L II. but i worry that the focal range is too close to 35L and that it will be pointless to buy this lens

any other lens i should consider? or MUST HAVES on the full frame?

i want a complete kit but i shoot mainly my gf and family

Since we cant know what you want, I'm going to suggest some good lenses. 70-200f4IS, 135L, 17-40L, 24-105. Since your object to the MKII and the 24-70 are based on weight, the lighter equivalents are a good second choice.

Several lens I can think
135L (but i rather have the 70-200MKII)
100 macro L IS f2.8
Tamron 28-75 f2.8 for a walk around light and no so expensive
Canon 24-105 IS f4 very handy
Canon 16-35 2.8 if you like wide
Some ZEISS glass is nice

I have the same urges, I just dont have the cash

135mm is a lot different than 85mm in terms of focal length. 24 is also quite a bit different than 35.

Go for the 70-200 f/4 IS if you don't need the extra stop. It also weighs about half of what the 2.8 IS does.

If I had a nice 35 and 85, I'd pick up a landscape lens.

24L is amazing. That or a 17-40 and a 135L. or...17-40, 100L macro lenses are all kinds of fun.

It's used for a lot of things, but since the only criteria you've given us is "I want a new lens" its hard for us to guess what you might like.

where do you live? I know in the UK places like jessops will let you test out lenses without the need to buy. Then you can check on what focal lengths you prefer.

If you've got cash to burn and want something to play with how about a 200 F/2? Certainly very different to what you have now. Obviously will fall into "too heavy", but it'd be fun...

Otherwise you could get a fisheye, macro lens, or some other form of speciality lens.

What difference does it make? Get the one with the greatest profit potential. Forget it if you can't make a good profit. You would just be trying to buy something you don't need because it is a "good deal." Not being critical. I have a house full of items purchased because they were good deals and they remain in like new condition.
