Hi,
My Cannon SD1100is (that I loved) was stolen. I was wondering what is the current replacement for the SD1100is? It seems it not being made anymore.
Thanks

Sorry to hear your camera was stolen.

You have a few similar options for replacement of the SD1100.

The first is last year's SD1400 - with a 28mm lens, x4 zoom and 720 video.
It weighs just 133 grams and costs about $169, depending on where you buy.

The other two are current models - replacing the SD1xxx line -

ELPH 100 - has the same 28mm lens and x4 zoom but with a CMOS sensor and 1080 video -
it weighs slightly more than the SD1400 - 140 grams, and costs $189.

ELPH 300 - has a wider 24mm lens, a larger x5 zoom, a CMOS sensor, 1080 video
and optical zoom during video recording with stereo sound -
weighs the same as the ELPH 100 and costs $229.

Now all you have to do is choose :)

Both the 100 and 300 HS models have back illuminated CMOS sensors... a rather new feature that produces much less noise in lower light situations. I believe the 100HS is the cheapest camera on the market that offers that kind of technology. It seems mostly reserved for the higher end P&S cameras. To my knowledge, the only cameras that use the back illuminated CMOS technology are the Nikon 8100, 9100, and P500 though that's a bridge camera. In Canon it's the 100HS, the 300HS, the 500HS, the SX230, the S95, the SD4500 and the 4000... I think? And the G12, which I'm also not 100% sure on... there's a lot of them starting to catch on... you'll notice that the relatively cheap 100HS is using similar tech to a lot of the higher end ($300+) P&S cameras... it's a pretty great camera.

EDIT: A bunch of Sony's have it too, but I'd stay with Canon or maybe Nikon... unless you need 3D TV compatibility.

Sorry to hear of your loss

I have the SD1100 and have purchased the 1200, 1300 and now have the 1400. Being 100% honest - I have not had a camera that compares to the 1100 for picture quality. In full auto the 1100 delivers remarkable shots and does so 100% of the time. The 1400 seems so hit and miss. True the 1400 now gives a pretty decent HD video (all I really use it for) but image quality, color, sharpness etc are all off compared to my beloved 1100. Especially when the flash comes into play.

I personally would consider looking around for another 1100 on e-bay if anything ever happened to mine. While the 1400 brings more features and MP to the table the results to my eye are lackluster by comparison. Could be just my camera but I find similar comparisons with the 1200 and 1300 too (Both of which are now in the hands of relatives). Also - the 1100 is a little larger and squared edges which I find make it easier to hold and harder to drop.

No mine was blue, areohwhy.
But I'm not sure what you are asking. Did you find that one? or are you selling it?
Thanks
Dan

I looking at the 300 HS & might replace my old 1100 with that. Thanks for the input / pointing me in the right direction. It looks like a real good point & shoot for the money, from the you-tubes I've seen & relativly easy to use and get consistant results, for a camera dummy like myself.

I think the one areohwhy posted a picture of IS the blue one, the WB and exposure is just off in the pic.
