How does one gain traction on 500px? It used to be that I could count on a reasonable number of viewers but now it seems that I only get 5 or 6 before my images fall so far down the list that no one sees them. I've found that not only are there more people on the site, there's an increased number of people that dump 20 or 30 images at once; today I posted an image and it fell 30 pages in 20 minutes, grabbing 6 views, 5 votes, 2 favorites, and 4 comments in the process.

You need more followers. Start kissing asses and commenting on people who are popular and have images that are similiar to yours. :D

I feel your pain... I'm in the same boat. Never been able to get much interest on 500px. I've had images go popular, and even make editor's choice... but still, when I post, very little viewers and even less activity.

I gave up, I just post because... I figure I'll get lots of followers when I die someday... LOL

I always enjoy your stuff, Todd. I even pulled it up the other night at a local get together to show others how awesome it is. :D

Not to mention some of the garbage that makes it popular. :D

Heck, they don't even have to be similar to yours. Sometimes I'll see an image in the first few pages of the Popular section that really makes me scratch my head, and I'll go have a peek at that person's activity. If you go to someone's main page and click on their "Flow" link, you can see what they've been up to. It's never any surprise to see that the person has been as busy as a squirrel on Red Bull, in constant promotion mode for hours on end. I once decided to count the images that a guy had interacted with since he uploaded his currently popular photo, and I lost count when I got to about three hundred. Where do people find the time?! And the bigger question: why bother??

Ditto for me. Some photos that really take off, Editor's Choice, etc., but I'm just not active enough on there to keep the traffic coming.

I'm facing the same problem a lot of you guys are. I've had a few photos hit the top 5 pages in Popular, but that was over a year ago. My images get like 15 views now - they're all tagged well, too.

I'm not interested in doing comment blasts in the hopes of getting followers, either.

500px desperately needs regional based groups. At least then I'd be able to find local photographers and have some common interests.

I was just looking for a place to host my photos online that doesn't kill the quality. So far this looks pretty good. Does anybody organize their photos into sets, or do you just leave them in the main library?

I just leave mine all as one. I didn't even know there could be sets.
